this is all from memory, so it may not be 100% accurate...
Step 1: download the latest ODBCUSER.DLL from ipwitch's ftp site. I had nothing but problems untill I did this.
Step 2: create a database and a DSN on the iMail server machine (if you havn't done this already). Test your DSN with something like an access linked table, interdev, or anything you have that can test the DSN.
Step3: Open ImailAdministrator, Select the IP of the host you want to set up, choose "external database" click "Configure"
the first box should contain the path to your odbcuser.dll
The ODBC datasource name needs something similar to the following (replace with the actual info for your database) This stuff is very poorly documented, and I had to dig realy deep to find it.
tablename, UID=sa,PWD=sqlpassword,DB=databasename
the tablename should contain the name of the table
Step 4: CLICK OK, then CLICK APPLY. This is an important step! Nothing will happen untill you hit the APPLY button.
Let iMail create your table for you, I had problems in trying to create one myself. I got it to work with the SQL server on the same box as iMail, but it *should* work with iMail on a different machine than the SQL server.
