Find the the pop3uidl file and delete it. It's in different places with different versions of Windows and Outlook express. Two things seem to cause corruption of this file. One is checking the mail too often as someone else said (this is a bad thing) and the other is having more than one mail account setup in Outlook Express that have different "leave a copy on the server" options checked. If you have more than one mail account setup in OE and you're leaving a copy on the server they all must have the same options for deleting after a set number of days or things like this start to happen after a while. You may also have to delete the pop3uid file in the customers mailbox on the server but this one doesn't screw up too often. I would suspect Outlook Express first.
