Thanks for keeping me on my toes. :) I just did a little test, and I was right about being able to add users from the web admin interface, but wrong about which file the address gets written to. It's users.lst that IMail uses for mailing out, and that's the only one that gets changed from the web. Users.txt, according to http://support.ipswitch.com/kb/IM-19981218-EM01.htm, "... is a list of the user names and e-mail addresses that is updated automatically when someone subscribes or unsubscribes to the list-server mailing list."
Anyhoo, I was able to add/modify/delete just fine from the web, which writes only to users.lst, was able to post to the list and receive messages, and then was able to unsubscribe with a regular e-mail from one of the addresses I subscribed the "wrong" way. So I'm still not sure what users.txt does, and why it's important, since my tests all passed. Using 6.02 on NT4, btw.
