I plant to move a single domain to a new Imail server. I want the transition to be seamless for all my users (over 2000). The username doesn't contain "@domain.com"
In the old system an email address "andrew@cshore.com" would have a username of "andrew" and would connect to "mail.cshore.com" for their incoming mail. Outgoing mail is handle by IMGate. Which ROCKS !!!!
I have experimented with the following, which works. Just want to make certain I'm not missing anything.
Setup Imail on a new box with an official hostname of "cshore.com". The actual hostname is "mail.cshore.com" in DNS. In appears that users have a reply address of "username@cshore.com" BUT can log in with "username" only. I'm not running IIS on the box so I have changed the port for webmail to "80". So users can check their mail http://mail.cshore.com and just type in their username, without the "@domain.com"
I will only run a single domain on this box. I'm just double checking so the move goes without any problems. Does anyone see any potential problems ?
