Since upgrading to Flash 5 players, I'm noticing that the sound output to MP3 seems to create much worse sound output. Perhaps it is only magnifying the lower quality of the original sound clips that it did before, but now I'm finding that many of my clips sound awful no matter what I do. Birds and crickets, e.g. sound like I'm playing a record that is 50 years old... scratchy, hisses, and sounds that are cut off at the hi end. I've tried running them through SoundJam and SoundStudio to clean them, but it doesn't seem to work.
What's weird is that they play just fine in the library, just fine in any of those programs, but upon Flash 5 output with either mp3 defaults or boosted to mp3 best and 20khz, they stink.
Any ideas?
Jeff
