Subject: need 'inverse ratio'/to scale formula

fellow flaers and flashets, can anyone point out a tutorial or formula which: gets _xscale and computes a variable which becomes smaller as the scale gets larger...

this new variable will then be used as a 'pan incriment' so the enlarged clip may be panned from side to side via a button action which moves the targeted clip that new number of pixcels (or a % of the scale) left and right. this 'inverse ratio'/to scale is necessary because we are scaling the clip to very large and small sizes, resulting in a very slow pan when it's small and a 'to rapid' pan when the clip is very large.

a curved 'variable would be really sweet...

thanks, dave matthews
