I would like to put my two cents in here.

The odbc.u32 is basically a windows .dll that is used for odbc connections to client odbc applications. This is for data storage on the client side only. There really is no system that is truely universal for client machines (especially when refering to the mac) except text files. So assuming that you will not be storing a lot of information on the client side, use a text file.

Sending information to a web page is definately a good way to send information to the database on the server side of the equation. You can use many methods on a Linux box including ASP. However, to use ASP you would have to have a server application running that would be able to parse the VBSCRIPT. If you are interested you can check out http://www.chilisoft.com . You can also use CGI, Jscript, JavaScript, ColdFusion, etc.. to name a few. Go to http://www.mamma.com and do a search on something, notice the address window looks like this: http://www.mamma.com/Mamma?p1=1&timeout=4&query=authorware&qtype=0 , my understanding is that mamma is on a linux web server running perl 5 for scripting (ironically M$ owns it, another topic though) . Basically, you can use the method dave explained earlier. Or you could try something like ReadExtFile("http://www.myserver.com?username=someone&userid=12345") If you would like a sample of this on a linux web server using perl, go to any perl website and look for a standard web form that inputs to a MySQL database. There really isn't an easy answer to this question. You will have to learn a little bit about scripting for database connections or you will be better off hiring someone to do the work for you.
