How is this? Did you say there's a way to connect to a database on a remote server without installing ODBC drivers or configuring a DSN? How do you do this Dave? Authorware is a client side app. Are you passing strings to an ASP using PostURL() then reading the returning data with ReadURL()? I'd LOVE to see an example! It's a mess to set up a DSN. Various versions of the drivers require slightly different syntax so you might get the "Data source name not found..." error. Talking to the database on the server side is much more reliable.
