You're right...the conceptual information isn't there. I have to agree with you on that. And Nick has a point that conceptual information is often missing from help files no matter what application you work with.
I guess I missed the distinction since in my own experience, I already had the concept in mind of what I wanted/needed to do with the fields. Even then, the whole issue of paths for variables took me a long time to absorb and it still trips me up.
I guess my point is that the help files in any application should be the first place people look for information. (I guess I see too many questions on the newsgroup that could easily be answered by doing a quick search in the help files...Authorware's that is.)
