No, the initial frame load is about the same (except for the images, which then get cached if you serve them from a separate web server), then subsequent actions are significantly faster due to lots of optimizations we've done. For example, the auto-refresh that checks for new messages (now a configurable number of minutes) happens with a hidden 10kb frame, vs. a displayed 35kb frame in the previous version. That alone makes a big difference.
