I have followed everything you have mentioned in here with no results. I'll keep trying and post back if I find a solution.

There is a large unavoidable message in the installer that will pop up if you are trying to migrate your Advanced Security policy store on CF 5.0 beta 3 - did you encounter this?
What is says is that we are working to resolve some issue with the migration of ODBC policy stores. The netegrity tools are not migrating all information reliably. We are working to resolve this issue by developing our own tools for migration and I will definitely post to spectra-talk when they are complete and tested by QA.
In the meantime, as the message states, you need to check you Advanced Security setup after migration to see if all the information made it into the new policy store. If not, you will need to re-create it by hand as you have been trying to do.
1. I suggest that you turn off the security caches and click "apply changes" 2. Then click "purge all" to clear the caches 3. Then try recreating your user directory (**and DO NOT check "add to existing contexts - do this manually after the UD is created)
4. let me know how it goes

I'm getting an error when trying to re-create my user directories after a cf5.0 b3 upgrade. It toasted my old smpolicy database information and created the new smpolicy mdb. I therefore had to go into CFAdmin advanced security and create my security ontexts from scratch. Then when I try to create the user directories, I get the following :

Error Diagnostic Information The encrypted template D:\INETPUB\WWWROOT\CFIDE\ADMINISTRATOR\SECURITY\USERDIRECTORYDETAIL.CFM contains invalid CFML syntax.
Because the template has been encrypted, you cannot see the actual error message. You need to have access to an unencrypted version of the template to get detailed error information
